These worked well for wireless in the past, and led to a highly successful mobile phone industry. However, these architectures are limited in the new world of wireless, driven by the Internet of Things (IoT). Some projections have IoT devices surpassing 1 Trillion units by 2035, with an incredible variety of device types. This massive market demands a completely new level of performance, in terms of better sensitivity, lower power consumption and reduced cost.
